Feb Days–Link Journalism #1

Step 1: Select a story.

Step 2: Summarize/write for your audience in 2-3 paragraphs.

For example:

There are valid reasons to call 911.

Your cable going out during Breaking Bad isn’t one of them. The 911 call center in Fairfield, Connecticut took to their Facebook page after an outage cut Walter White fans after the cable went dark, to tell residents that they were not, in fact, experiencing an emergency. ““This is neither an emergency or a police related concern. Please direct your inquiries to Cablevision.” One user replied, “clearly, Farifield PD doesn’t watch Breaking Bad.”

Step 3: Add the hyperlink.

Copy the URL:

Highlight some text. Click “insert” on Microsoft Word, then “hyperlink.” Paste the text in.

You’ll get a blue link.
