Ok, last day of WordPress.
A few things.

pagebreak: <p>
subheadline: <h1>your headline goes here</h1> (you can also use h2, h3, etc to get smaller subheadlines)
Embed a tweet/YouTube video/soundcloud file: copy the EMBED code, not the link to the page.
Remember, all this goes in the TEXT tab, not the not the VISUAL tab.
25% site requirements (6 posts+an about me page)
25% technical (embed at least one of all of the following: youtube, soundcloud, tweet, and use subheadlines)

Here’s a screen shot from yesterday’s blog post.
Notice the difference between linking out, and embedding a piece of media into the page.
Let’s do a link out first.
Step 1: Copy the URL of what you want to link to.
Instead of just dropping in the link, like this (which is ugly),
http://www.redeyechicago.com/sports/redeye-bulls-cavaliers-game-2-20150506-story.html
Write a line of text:
Last night, the Bulls dropped game two to Lebron and the Cavs, in part due to poor shooting and rebounding.
Now, highlight a chunk of text, and hit the “chain link” button. Paste the URL into the box that pops up.
The result should look like this.
Last night, the Bulls dropped game two to Lebron and the Cavs, in part due to poor shooting and rebounding.
To embed, we need to flip over to “text” view, which shows you the HTML side of your wordpress site.
It’s in the right hand corner of your text box. When you flip over, you’ll see how WordPress coded the link out for you.
The first thing to do is put in a page break, which looks like this: <p>
You can’t just hit “enter” in HTML mode, you have to manually tell the site you want to start on a new line, which is what the <p> is for.
Now, we’re going to embed a YouTube video, soundcloud file, and a tweet.
Go to YouTube and hit “share” then copy the EMBED link, not the URL link.
Now, paste that code into the TEXT side of your word press story. It will look like this.
Flip back over to visual, and you’ll see that there’s a placeholder for the video, which will appear when you publish.
Now, repeat for a tweet, and a Soundcloud file. Here’s where to get the embed codes.
Two reasons to do subheadlines:
1. Because really long posts tend to intimidate people into not reading them.
2. Helps a ton with SEO (search engine optimization…which we’ll discuss Tuesday).
Step one, type something.
The Bulls fell to the Cavs last night.
Step two, flip over to TEXT, and put this code around the phrase.
<h1>headline</h1>
You can use <h2>, <h3>, etc. to make a smaller subheadline.
1. Sign up for an account.
2. If you have a brand in mind (video game blog, sports blog, etc),
3. Go ahead and pick any theme (that’s free).
—–Stuff to check out——
1. Ringr app. Record a podcast iphone to iphone.
2. Chase Jarvis…amazing example of how to create a blog that makes a lot for $$. (Chase is a professional photographer by day).
3. Ditto with filmmaker Brian Koppelman…who does an amazing (monetized) podcast on the side.
1. go to [yourusername].wordpress.com/wp-admin and you’ll see this.
2. Go to appearance/themes
Go ahead and pick a free one that looks good to you. Themes can be changed at any time, so no worries if you decide you hate it two days from now.
Go to Bizness Apps and sign up for an account.
Now, select a design…
(I would reccomend the multiple row design).
Select a color palette.
Or…let’s start from here. I’ll come around and help you.
Let’s add a location first. Again, this is an exercise…go with it.
